Love your layout, tired of the colour?
If your kitchen is well built but dated – orange-toned oak, dull magnolia shaker doors or scuffed painted units – repainting is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make to your home. In most cases it costs a fraction of a new kitchen and takes days rather than weeks.
How we get a factory-quality finish
The finish on a kitchen is all about adhesion and smoothness, so the preparation is thorough:
- Doors and drawer fronts removed, labelled and set up for refinishing away from the units, with hinges and handles bagged and stored safely
- Deep degreasing – kitchen units carry years of cooking residue that has to come off completely
- Sanding and keying every surface, including the profiles and edges
- Filling dents, chips and old handle holes if you're changing hardware
- Specialist bonding primer chosen for the substrate – real wood, MDF, foil-wrap or laminate
- Two or more top coats of a hard-wearing cabinet paint, sprayed or applied with fine finishing rollers and brushes
Carcasses, end panels, plinths and cornices are masked and painted in place, with the worktops, appliances and floor protected.
Which kitchens can be painted?
Solid wood, oak veneer, painted MDF and most laminate doors can be painted successfully with the right primer. Vinyl-wrapped doors that are peeling or lifting are the exception – they usually need replacing rather than painting, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case.
Living with it while we work
You can usually still use your kitchen during the project. Because the doors are worked on off the units, the frames are painted in place and dry quickly, and we refit everything – re-aligning the hinges – at the end.

Kitchen cabinet painting prices
Most kitchen respray projects in the Epsom area cost between £1,200 and £2,800, depending on the number of doors and drawers, whether there's an island, and the current material. That compares with many thousands of pounds for a replacement kitchen. We'll give you a fixed quote once we've seen the kitchen.
