Interior decorators who take the prep seriously
A good interior finish is decided long before the last coat goes on. Hairline cracks over doorways, nail pops in plasterboard, gappy caulk along skirting boards and old flaking gloss all show through new paint if they're simply painted over. On every interior job in Epsom we spend the time to fill, sand, caulk, spot-prime and dust down first – it's the difference between a room that looks freshly painted for a few months and one that still looks sharp years later.
We decorate everything from a single box room to an entire house, including:
- Living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms – walls, ceilings, coving and woodwork
- Hallways, stairs and landings – including tall stairwell walls using safe access equipment
- Kitchens and bathrooms – with moisture-resistant, wipeable finishes
- Skirting boards, architraves, doors and spindles – in satinwood, eggshell or gloss
- New-build and newly plastered walls – sealed with a mist coat before finishing
Painting Epsom homes – period and modern
Epsom has a real mix of houses. Around the town centre, Church Street and Stamford Green you'll find Victorian and Edwardian houses with high ceilings, picture rails, deep skirtings and original plaster that needs gentle handling. Out towards Ewell and Stoneleigh there are rows of 1930s semis with bay windows and long hall-stairs-landing runs. To the west, the newer homes built on the old hospital sites have smooth plasterboard walls that show every imperfection under modern LED lighting.
Each of these needs a slightly different approach. Older lime plaster, for example, can suffer if it's sealed under the wrong paint, while new plasterboard joints need careful filling and sanding to disappear. We'll explain what we recommend for your house and why when we come to quote.
Hallways, stairs and landings
The hall, stairs and landing is one of the most-requested jobs we price in Epsom – and one of the most often rushed. It's the busiest part of the house, so we usually suggest a durable, scrubbable matt or eggshell on the walls and a hard-wearing satin or gloss on the spindles, handrail and skirting. We use proper staging over the stairwell rather than balancing ladders, so the high walls get the same finish as the rest.
Paint and colour
We're happy to work with whichever brand you prefer – trade ranges from Dulux Trade and Johnstone's Trade, or designer paints such as Farrow & Ball and Little Greene. If you're stuck on colours we can paint sample patches so you can see them in your own light before committing.
