Exterior painting that's built to last
Outside, paint has a much harder life. Rain, frost, UV and the damp that comes off the North Downs all work on it, and any weakness in the preparation shows within a season or two. That's why our exterior work in Epsom starts with a careful survey of the house: we look for blown render, open joints, rotten timber, failed putty and old paint that's lost its grip, and we include the repairs in our quote rather than painting over them.
What we paint outside
- Smooth and textured render, pebble-dash and masonry – washed down, stabilised where chalky, cracks raked out and filled, then two coats of quality masonry paint
- Fascias, soffits and bargeboards – sanded, knotted and primed where bare, then finished in exterior gloss or satin
- Timber windows and sash windows – loose putty replaced, joints filled, primed and painted (see our sash window and woodwork page)
- Front doors, porches and garage doors – a high-quality finish that makes the biggest difference to kerb appeal
- Metal railings, gates and downpipes – rust treated and painted with the right metal primer
- Garden walls, outbuildings and timber cladding
Epsom houses and their exteriors
A lot of Epsom's housing has painted render or pebble-dash fronts – especially the 1930s semis towards Ewell and Stoneleigh – and these benefit from a breathable, flexible masonry paint that copes with fine cracking. Victorian and Edwardian houses nearer the town centre tend to have more joinery: bay windows, sash windows, decorative bargeboards and porches that need proper timber preparation. If your home is a listed building, or in one of the borough's conservation areas with extra planning controls, some colour changes or material changes can need consent – we'll flag anything like this before we start.
Access and weather
Most two-storey houses can be painted safely from ladders and towers, but where scaffolding is the safer option we'll arrange it through a local scaffolder and include it clearly in the quote. Exterior painting is weather-dependent, so we plan most outside work for the drier months between spring and early autumn and keep you informed if rain moves the dates.

Exterior painting prices in Epsom
The size of the house, the condition of the surfaces and the type of access needed make the biggest difference. As a guide, painting the front of a terraced house typically costs £700–£1,500, a three-bed semi £1,800–£3,800, and a detached house £3,000–£6,500+. Scaffolding, where needed, is priced separately and shown clearly on your quote. More examples are in our price guide.
